Berwick School of Music: A new generation of music makers

Nic Prentice, Founder and Executive Director; May Thompson, Founder and Creative Director, have recently joined forces to create Berwick School of Music, a new education project created to give children and young people in Berwick and beyond the opportunity to Create, Inspire, Believe and Belong through music.  Weekly sessions include ensemble playing, solo performance practice, conducting, composing, improvising and activities to strengthen music theory and musicianship techniques. 

Young musicians will develop confidence, discover the joy of creating music with others whilst working on their musical skills, make new friends and enjoy a sense of belonging whilst spending time with an enthusiastic and devoted musical group. 

Nic told us: “We are delighted to be starting this new chapter in Berwick and look forward to promoting a vibrant musical community where young people can flourish, grow and inspire one another.”

Vivace Vocal Collective

Vivace is an open-access adult choir and welcome singers aged 16 and over, with no auditions and no previous experience required, just a love of singing and a willingness to try.

The Berwick Male Voice Choir

The choir invites singers from Berwick, surrounding areas & Scottish Borders. No audition or ability to read music is required. We perform an eclectic mix of music covering various genres; traditional choral pieces, sea shanties, contemporary pieces, songs from the Musicals. Hits by Keane, Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, Louis Armstrong, Proclaimers, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Electric Light Orchestra and more. The choir’s singing season runs from September through to May each year.

Upcoming events:
Concerts are being planned at Norham, Chirnside and North Berwick (for RNLI) , in addition to the BMVC annual Christmas Concert (Saturday 19/12/2026, 2.00 pm) and BMVC annual Gala Concert (Friday 23/04/2027).
